Mark-
OK – I finally got around to pausing for the purpose of perusing your pure drivel (like my irory and alliteration so far?).
I’ve only had about 10 minutes to skim, but interesting stuff! Really good idea, and I hope your readership expands – more importantly – the soul expansion through actual real life connections during your walk and write days, mens group meetings, etc.
As for my promised jaded, sarcastic, blog comments, I can only muster up a couple. Firstly, I’m shocked that the group is openly part of the Northern California pot culture by going to Petaluma to get coffee and ‘seeds.’ Watch yourself my friend – I notice you also have traveled to Redding on one of your so-called ‘trips.’ I hope you haven’t moved from casual user to full blown trafficker.
Secondly, if you ever hear Springsteen’s music being desecrated though cheap Walgreen speakers, please shoot to kill (and I don’t mean with your digital camera).
I’ll offer a couple of items, as long as I’m here today.
I have a GREAT book recommendation. I may have already mentioned this one to you. Titled: “The Question of God,” by Dr. Armand M. Nicholi, Jr. The book is based on a Harvard class taught by the author (25 years as professor). Premise is a hypothetical debate between Freud and Lewis as to the exitence of God, obviously Lewis pro-God, and Freud not. Both men began as devout atheists, but Lewis converted to Christianity in his early thirties. As you know, I read alot, and haven’t come across a book this inspiring and thought provoking in years. I absolutuely recommend it to any thinking man who ponders ‘the question of God,’ his meaning, and ours.
Lastly, your blog made me think of something. A couple of years ago, I wrote a speech for my father’s retirement party. I have it still, and would be happy to send it to you for your reading – you might enjoy. My dad is an amazing human being and the biggest influence on my life. I recall you and I have talked the topic of fathers before. Let me know if you’re interested. It’s a MS ‘word’ file format.
Thanks for the blog – this has been fun for this half hour before Jenn and the girls wake up, to spend some virtual time together.
