I love how you remind me to slow down, even if it's only for a few seconds. One day I might even be able to string a few of those "few seconds," into something longer. I think I've always been afraid that if I "slow down", then, 1) I'll miss something, and 2) I wont "get enough done!" Of course, those are both lies I tell myself and, you know what? I think I'll just turn off my computer and go for a walk right now. Thanks!!

Hi Mark,
We've just returned from a major backpacking trip in Northern California on the Pacific Crest Trail. There were several days that we didn't see anyone. Hiking is our antidote to the stress that builds over time as we deal with the complexity of life in a metropolitan area. I feel very privileged to be able to enjoy the best of both city and wilderness. Looking for quiet places in a crowded city sounds like a wonderful and worthwhile adventure.

Dear Mark,
Did you like the book? Shall I buy a copy for our jaunts to NYC? I'm smiling at the Jamba Juice Incident. Can't imagine you taking out those machines.

We were in Davis last weekend for a wedding. The town reminded me of smaller villages in Missouri near the Katy Trail, a railroad bed along the Mississippi River turned into "Rails for Trails." Talk about s l o w l i v i n g. The antithesis of NYC.

I miss your presence and writing at Guy's soiree. Hope to see you this fall.
Cheers,
Christie
