Loved your story of Dr. Hennig. Particularly the one about the train on Mt. Tam (where I am going Sunday for a pancake breakfast at West Point Inn!). When we were at Machu Picchu, we took a bus on switchbacks up and down a very steep mountainside. We noticed a couple of young boys standing alongside the road near the beginning of our ride. After the next curve, we saw them again--then again--and again. As in Hennig's case, the boys were running down the hill via a path going straight up and down the mountain waving to us each time we met them. We gave them a nice donation at the bottom of the hill.
